Project Overview

Rent-A-Drum partnered with Printhoek3D to create custom NFC-enabled keychains based on the company’s recognisable wheelie bins and skip containers.

Working with RB Media, Printhoek3D manufactured the branded miniature keychains and incorporated NFC tags into each product. Recipients could tap the keychain with a compatible smartphone to access selected digital content, including event galleries, marketing material or stakeholder information.

The project combined a physical branded keepsake with a simple digital connection. Additive manufacturing enabled the keychains to be produced in customised quantities while maintaining Rent-A-Drum’s branding and recognisable product forms.

Project Overview

Rent-A-Drum wanted to present specialised gifts to stakeholders attending the Mining Expo. The products needed to be more relevant to the company’s operations than conventional promotional merchandise.

Printhoek3D developed a miniature skip container based on the equipment associated with Rent-A-Drum’s refuse-removal services. The geometry, colours and branding were incorporated into a compact physical model that remained immediately recognisable as a Rent-A-Drum product.

The model was developed as a custom digital asset for the client. This allows Rent-A-Drum to request additional units for future events without repeating the complete design process.

Producing customised products through conventional manufacturing would normally involve tooling and setup costs that are difficult to justify for limited quantities. Additive manufacturing allowed the skip containers to be produced cost-effectively at a medium volume, while retaining the client-specific branding and colour scheme.

Project Overview

Rent-A-Drum required specialised gifts for stakeholders attending the Mining Expo. Rather than using conventional promotional merchandise, the company wanted the gifts to represent its refuse-removal services and equipment.

Printhoek3D developed a custom miniature skip truck featuring Rent-A-Drum’s branding. The model incorporates the truck cab, wheels, skip-loading structure and removable-waste-container geometry as a detailed, recognisable representation of the company’s operations.

The truck was designed as a digital asset specifically for Rent-A-Drum. This means the design can be manufactured again for future events or stakeholder requirements without restarting the development process.

Traditional manufacturing could produce a similar item, but tooling and setup costs would be difficult to justify at the required quantities. Additive manufacturing made customised medium-volume production commercially practical while allowing the branding, colours and equipment details to remain specific to the client.

The miniature skip truck forms part of a wider collection of branded Rent-A-Drum products, including wheelie bins and additional models currently under development.

Project Overview

Printhoek3D developed a miniature wheelie bin incorporating Rent-A-Drum’s branding and corporate colours. The product was designed as a recognisable display miniature rather than a functional waste container.

The geometry was created as a reusable digital asset specifically for Rent-A-Drum. This allows the company to request additional quantities or colour variations for future events without repeating the full development process.

Project Overview

Gondwana Safari2Go - Whimsical Design Meets Sustainable Craft

Project Overview

Following the success of the Namibia2Go project, Gondwana Collection Namibia approached Printhoek 3D to produce creative and meaningful corporate gifts for the launch of their Safari2Go initiative a travel platform designed to make self-drive safaris more accessible across Namibia.

To capture the brand’s spirit of adventure, Printhoek 3D designed and produced a series of 3D-printed miniature ornaments inspired by Namibian wildlife and landscapes. The set included a purple flamingo, a blue elephant, and a neon-green quiver tree, each symbolizing a key element of Gondwana’s vibrant identity.

The ornaments were printed in batches of 80 per design, refined through external design collaboration, and mounted on custom wooden bases supplied by a partnering craftsman blending 3D printing innovation with locally sourced materials.

For an exclusive corporate collaboration for Gondwana Collection Namibia providing their clients from Samsung, Printhoek 3D was commissioned by Emile Hart to produce a set of custom Gondwana-branded coasters / fridge magnet designed as multi-purpose gifts for high-value guests and partners.

The brief required an elegant, compact, and functional item that embodied both brands’ commitment to innovation and sustainability. Our team designed and produced 3D-printed coasters featuring Gondwana’s logo and engraved website details, which doubled as fridge magnets for practical everyday use.

To achieve a premium finish, each piece was post-processed with clear epoxy resin, giving the surface a polished, glass-like appearance while enhancing durability. Despite tight timelines caused by epoxy curing times, the final pieces were delivered on schedule for presentation to Samsung’s visiting executives.

MTC 25-Year Service Awards - Honouring Legacy Through Design

Project Overview

To celebrate 25 years of service by long-standing employees, MTC Namibia commissioned Printhoek 3D to design and manufacture a set of custom commemorative trophies reflecting both the brand’s identity and its commitment to innovation.

Initially proposed as a fully 3D-printed design, the project evolved into a hybrid fabrication process combining 3D printing with laser-cut metallic elements. The final trophies featured the number “25” integrated seamlessly with the “I Am MTC” logo supplied by the client.

A total of thirteen trophies were produced, each customized for individual employees celebrating 25 years of dedication to the MTC brand.

MTC SATeG 2025 Awards - Celebrating Regional Connectivity Through Design

Project Overview

Following the success of the MTC 25-Year Service Awards project, Printhoek 3D was commissioned once again to design and fabricate a new series of custom trophies for the Southern Africa Telecommunications Group (SATeG) 2025 Awards.

The event recognized regional telecommunications partners, including BoFiNet (Botswana), Vodacom Lesotho, Econet Lesotho, Telecom Namibia, BTC Botswana, and EPTC Eswatini.

Each award design featured a 3D-printed section of Southern Africa, highlighting the respective countries and partner logos supplied by MTC. Every element from the geographical contour to the corporate branding was digitally modeled and 3D printed, ensuring uniform precision and a distinctive modern aesthetic.

Each award was finished using a Rust-Oleum textured coating, giving the base a refined, tactile appearance reminiscent of brushed sandstone. To enhance durability and presence, the internal structure was printed solid rather than hollow, adding weight and a sense of permanence to the final pieces.

The trophies were presented in custom wooden presentation boxes, adding a natural, exclusive finish that complemented MTC’s signature color palette. The project was completed in collaboration with Josephina Shatipamba, ensuring brand consistency and accurate representation across all six awards.

The design needed to look professional, carry multiple stakeholder identities clearly, and be manufactured as a clean, presentation-ready item.

PH3D used additive manufacturing to produce a short-run custom piece where detail, finish, alignment, and brand presentation mattered. The project required more than simply printing a shape. Project Overview

Printhoek 3D was commissioned by Namibia Medical Engineering to create a physical scale model of a proposed containerized incinerator system for presentation at Mining Expo.

The project was not a simple display model. The client needed a physical representation of an evolving technical concept that could be reviewed, understood, and presented before full-scale deployment. This required the model to remain connected to the real system while still being practical to manufacture at scale-model size.

Using a combination of manual measurements, LiDAR scan data, CAD development, and additive manufacturing, PH3D translated the concept into a physical model that could communicate layout, structure, and system intent clearly to stakeholders.

The final model allowed the proposed containerized incinerator system to be presented in a way that drawings and digital references alone could not achieve.

Oxygen Cylinder Handle Assembly - Reverse Engineered Medical Equipment Component

Project Overview

Printhoek 3D was commissioned to recreate a failed handle assembly for a medical oxygen cylinder after the original component could no longer perform reliably.

The project focused on replacing the external handle assembly, not altering the oxygen cylinder or pressure system itself. The part needed to fit the existing cylinder interface, allow safe handling, and restore usability without waiting for imported replacement parts.

PH3D reverse engineered the failed component, rebuilt the geometry in CAD, and manufactured a replacement part locally through additive manufacturing. The design process focused on fitment, handling, strength, and compatibility with the existing equipment.

By producing the component locally, the client had a practical replacement pathway for a small but important medical equipment part.

Large-Format Giraffe Sculpture - Fabricated for Assembly and Installation

Project Overview

Printhoek 3D was commissioned to fabricate a large-format giraffe sculpture for an interior installation.

The project required translating a complex sculptural form into a physically stable, manufacturable object at scale. At this size, small decisions become critical. Wall thickness, segmentation, internal structure, joint alignment, handling, and finishing strategy all affect whether the final piece can be produced, assembled, moved, and installed successfully.

PH3D planned the sculpture as a segmented fabrication rather than a single printed object. Each section had to support the final build, align correctly during assembly, and preserve surface continuity across visible joins.

The real test came after fabrication. Once installed, the sculpture had to hold its presence, integrity, and visual intent in the environment it was designed for.

Corroded Pump Housing - Reverse Engineering for Material Testing

Project Overview

Printhoek 3D was commissioned to reverse engineer a corroded pump housing used in an industrial environment where repeated exposure to a dilute acidic solution had caused the original component to fail.

The project was not only about recreating the shape of the damaged housing. The more important requirement was understanding why the part was failing and creating a replacement pathway that could support fit testing, performance checks, and future material improvement.

Using metrology-grade 3D scanning, PH3D captured the remaining geometry of the damaged housing and reconstructed the missing and degraded features in CAD. The digital model was then prepared for additive manufacturing, allowing initial replacement units to be produced for fit and functional validation before committing to a more specialised long-term material.

This approach allowed the client to test the component geometry first, reduce uncertainty, and move toward a more chemically resistant solution with better technical confidence.
